Inkspot cartons and sleeves sit on shelves in every major Irish supermarket. Most of the brands are ones you would recognise; some of them are two people and a very good idea.
The work divides roughly three ways. There is premium retail own-brand: the ranges a supermarket puts its name and its reputation behind. There is branded food and drink, and pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging where the tolerances are tighter and the paperwork is longer. And there is a steady stream of work through design agencies and studios, some of whom have been sending jobs here for the better part of twenty years.
That last group is worth singling out. An agency does not hand its client's artwork to a printer it does not trust, because the printer's mistake arrives with the agency's name on it. Several of the studios below have been working with Inkspot since before some of their current staff started.
We are also happy being the small end of somebody's journey. One producer started at ten thousand units a year and now runs twenty thousand a month. That is the part of this job worth turning up for.
