Braille packaging printer, Dublin, Ireland
Read by fingertips as well as eyes.
Braille embossed cartons, and packaging designed to be read by more people: clear type sizes, strong contrast and layouts that put the essential information where it is expected, printed and finished under one roof in Dublin.
For many products the carton is the only place the information lives. If someone cannot read it, the pack has failed them, however good it looks on the shelf.
Braille is a legal requirement on medicinal packaging across the EU, and more brands now add it by choice. We emboss braille as part of the same job as the print, so the dots are registered to the artwork and checked on the run rather than added afterwards by a second supplier.
Braille only helps if it can be read. Dot height and spacing follow EN ISO 17351, the standard for braille on medicinal packaging, and the braille panel is planned from the start so dots stay clear of creases, glue flaps and anything that would flatten them.
Accessible packaging goes beyond braille. We can advise on minimum type sizes, contrast, colour pairings that still work for colour-blind readers, and layouts that put the essential information where a hand and eye expect to find it.
Work
Dots registered to the print.
Braille sits on the same carton as foil, windows and cut-outs, so it is planned into the dieline and embossed in the same job rather than added afterwards.
